Who Needs Training?

IT Governance requires that training should be provided on a regular basis to all employees based on the areas where employee expertise is lacking. This is particularly important for Information Systems (IS) professionals given the rapid rate of change of technology and products. Training not only assures more effective and efficient use of IS resources but also strengthens employees morale. Training must be provided when new hardware and/or software is being implemented and should also include relevant management training, project management and technical training. Cross training (having more than one individual properly trained to perform a specific job or procedure) has the advantage of decreasing dependance on one employee and also provides a backup for personnel in the event of absence for any reason and, thereby provides for continuity of operations.
